Hello, please see the below instructions:

  1. Read Chapter 4, “Contracting Overview,” in the Flawless Consulting textbook.
  2. Read Chapter 5, “The Contracting Meeting,” in the Flawless Consulting textbook.
  3. Read Chapter 6, “The Agonies of Contracting,” in the Flawless Consulting textbook.
  4. Read the Bonner case. This is a scenario of a small consulting project that illustrates some of the essentials of the consulting skills covered so far: the phases of consulting, the steps in the contracting process and its recycling nature, plus the objective of maintaining a 50/50 balance in taking responsibility for the consulting action. (Block, 2011, p. 120)
  5. Navigate to the Flawless Consulting: Contracting discussion thread below and respond to the following questions:
    1. Clarity of Consulting. Describe how reading of the Bonner case helped you to acquire greater insight and understanding of the phases of consulting, the steps in the consulting process and its recycling nature, the objective of taking a 50/50 balance in the consulting action, or other consulting concept(s) from Chapters 1-6 of the textbook.
    2. Presenting Problem. The last paragraph of the Bonner case is shown below. Reflect on the statement of ‘how the larger issue can always be found in the narrowness of the presenting problem.’ Have you found this to be true in your personal and/or professional experience? Explain why or why not.

      The meeting moved on as Jim yielded, but the issue is not gone. At some point Dave will have to raise the deeper question of whether Bonner and the staff want a workplace where questions and doubts are expressed. In the narrowness of the presenting problem, the larger issue can always be found. Part of the consultant’s job is to understand this and to help the client see the deeper question and make a choice.     3. Alan as Sole Consultant. Dave is the external consultant in the Bonner case and Alan is the acting internal consultant. However, now let’s assume similar facts in the case but that you are Alan: How would you have handled the same presenting problem identified by Bonner when acting as the only consultant to resolve the issue (i.e., without use of an external consultant)? Utilize key concepts of consulting from the Flawless Consulting textbook and additional research to support your rationalization.
  6. Provide a detailed post that demonstrates clear, insightful critical thinking. Your initial posting should be 200 words long.
