Activity Instructions

The criminal process starts with the crime and investigation of the crime. It then leads to the development of suspect(s) and then arrest. The arrested subject becomes a criminal defendant and then enters the criminal court process. The process wraps up when the defendant pleads guilty to the crime or is found guilty at trial. However, this may not be the end as there are appeals available to criminal defendants.

For this assignment, identify each of the steps in the criminal court process starting with the crime and ending with the trial or plea to the crime. Provide detailed explanations of each of the steps.
