You have an assortment of readings this week that are related to crime numbers and statistics. Based on those readings and other research that you may conduct, create a New Thread and answer the following questions:
- In your own words, what is the difference between the UCR and the NCVS? What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of each?
- Go to the UCR website, find a publication titled Crime in the United States and search for violent crime numbers in your state for the year 2014 (if you are overseas, select a state of interest). Then, discuss some of those numbers. A good discussion will include the number of crimes, the ratio (the number as compared to population) and an examination of some the cities or towns within your state.
- What assessments can be made through the above examination and/or other comparisons that you may have made?
