Compare the emergence and evolution of al-Qaeda and ISIS. Did the two groups evolve in similar ways? What lessons do you think they have learned regarding taking and holding territory? Do you believe terrorist organizations in the future will try to take and hold territory? Or, can they achieve their objectives solely through networked multinational organization structures?
